I have a dilemma. I had my home service installed a couple weeks ago. 1 of the door sensors was placed on our sliding door which is metal frame. Tonight the stationary piece mounted on the metal frame fell off, while the piece on the door itself stayed on. I attempted to place back up there and it fell back off within a minute. When feeling the door frame the temp is cold, which makes me think that the cold weakened the grip of the adhesive. It's current rigged up there with tape but that can't be a permanent solution. none of the other sensors are having this issue yet seeing as they are mounted to either a wood frame or sheetrock wall.
I can only assume the install tech figured that was the best place to put the sensor as the door is kind of awkward.
