Hi,
I had Xfinity home installed sometime in October - at the end of the day, everything working. Then in early December, I decided I wanted to try to see if I could speed up my wireless connection. Could not get into configuration of Xfinity gateway, so I called support. Mind you, at this time everything was working, I was just trying to improve the speed. The support people indicated that the Xfinity Gateway had to be in bridge mode as my router was connected directly to the gateway. As I said earlier, this was working - so why was bridge mode needed. Anyway, to bridge mode we went - after a couple of hours, my router was working, I had Internet connectivity, but no additional speed. Apparently, taking out the WiFi from the Gateway took out the connectivity for the Home Security touchpad - as apps we not updated nor could I find any additional apps.
Apparently on January 8, this was finally noticed as I received a VM from Xfinity on how to recycle all devices to restore the home security connectivity. On January 9, I received another message regarding the same issue. So after lunch yesterday, I followed the instructions - guess what - home security was working intermittently, but my Internet connectivity was gone. About 2-3 hours later working with Xfinity support we managed to get the Internet connectivity working again, but the home security is still not working. I do not have another 2-3 hours to spend on this, so I am looking for help from anyone who may have experienced the same sort of issue. Thanks in advance.
