Just try to purchase a docsis 3 modem which is the latest specification that comcast seems to be using that way you are up to date to take full advantage of internet service they provide , i have experience that motorola works pretty good and they can be purchase at you local store(walmart,bestbuy,etc) or just rent one from comcast.
The docsis 3 specification is usually noted on the device box
For the installation it is very simple as long as you have comcast RF (by this i mean tv cable jack or plug on the wall) signal plug nearby the modem location ,you will have to call them to put the modem MAC on the servers to authorize service
