We are now down to one problem with Xfinity home. The thermostats don't always connect to the touchpad, although it doesn't matter because they don't follow the schedule when they do. Checking it on the app was useless because the app only worked at home, where I could just get up and change the thermostats.
It had been more than 2 months of service calls (and fighting over the bill because they were charging me for warranty calls) when I decided I would have the Xfinity thermostats removed and put back the old progammable ones that worked. I asked for an appointment on a specific day when I was available. I called and checked and an appointment was never set up. So I spoke to someone in customer service who said I should hire an electrician to replace the thermostat (at my expense, of course) and let them know when it was done so they could take it off the account. Although I have had weekend appointments, he could not find an available weekend.
I have scheduled an electrician, but then out of the blue, someone tried to show up Saturday ( which is on one of those unvailable weekends) for an appointment that no one told me about, on a day I specifically said I had a prior engagement. I was told that dispatch decided to move it up without telling anyone, but at the same time I was told they were setting it up for the day I asked for, and as far as I know there is no such appointment. I was unavailable when they arrived, and the local supervisor who was supposed to schedule this was off.
On top of that, if I follow their instructions, I don't know that I can believe they will take it off my account when I tell them to. When X1 was installed, the installer took the 4th box with him, said he put a note on the account, but my equipment online was showing 4 boxes. One time I called and customer service said they hadn't scanned it back into inventory, but there was a note. That was 1 month after the installation - if it was going to be used on another account it should have already been scanned into that account. After 2 months, the "Recently Watched" section was showing TV shows I never heard of. I became concerned that someone was stealing cable with the missing box, so when I called they said they were shutting it down and going to trace the equipment. They had no record of this installer note - giving me the impression that the first service agent who said not to worry about it is cavalier about his employer's equipment. God only knows what the installer really did with this box. If someone was using it illegally, I hope someone is getting fired for it.
I don't expect it to get much traction - it's now 10 weeks after installation with too much time wasted on customer service - but I may file a state consumer complaint on the grounds of false advertising concerning the thermostats not working, and the cost of the electrician to fix it. I may do it even if I hear from this elusive supervisor, although that's unlikely, even if they take the extra X1 box off the account, and even if they take the thermostats off after the electrician replaces them.
