Yes it definitely limits your speed, I would immediately swap it to be behind your high performance router... That's what I did with mine. I view it as a bottleneck on the network. The purpose of the junk netgear router is to provide internet connection to the home security tablet and to that tablet exclusively. There's no benefit to having a less reliable device in front of your high performance router.
