Hi all,
Here's what I did in my Finished Basement and in my 2 Car Detached Garage for Announcement Chimes in recent times...
Get an Xfinity Home Lightning Control Module:

Then get a 120v to 24V Transformer and Chime - like the doorbell kind:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G0MB0A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
I made a 2 prong plug in the 120v side that plugs into the bottom of the lighting controller, then the 24v end - wore up to the chime. Plus the lighting controller into a wall outlet and pair it up in the Touchpad and name it, like "D/Strs Announcement Chime", or "Garage Announcement Chime".
Then, you can setup rules to control the sensor(s), such as I have all my door sensors set up so that when any door opens, both my basement and garage chimes now DING via the lighting controller(s) via the rules that I setup!
You should probably do this in a Unarmed Alarm Mode. It's probably not good in an alarmed mode if you are near a "glass break detector". The chime could set off the glass break detector.
Also, setup the rule for "turn back to off" with "0" hours and "0" minutes. IT works on this setting and for only a second by default !!! It then makes a one second bell chime - such as a Ding Dong - if you wire your chime for Front Door shimes !!! Disregard the momentary push buttons that come with the kit.
Works perfectly for me and I love it !!!
ALSO !!! I have V-Tech Baby Monitors with a Baby Side Unit sitting behind my touchpad's little peizo speaker and then on Parent Unit in the garage, one in my kitchen and one in my finished basement and that too then allows me to remotely hear the sounds that the one and only master Touchpad is making !!! I purchased 2 sets, so I had 3 Parent Units.

So there ya go and have a ball and I enjoyed doing this and it works great and these little projects did not cost that much !!!
P.S., Indoor Window/Door Sensors and Curtain Motion Detectors - WILL work 100% AOK outdoors - providing you waterproof them with some hot glue or silicone and some paint to match your fencing, etc... I use curtain motion sensors on my 2 driveway gate openings and I use door sensors on my walkway swinging gates for chain link and stockade fencing gates in my front yard and alleyway !!! They all work great !!! I even have a door sensor on my front US Mailbox, so i know when the mailman is here along with rules to record video to make sure no Zombies are stealing my mail !!! I use the Door Creak anouncement sound and it sounds like "Thing" The Hand from the Adams Family !!! (LOL!!!) Most all of my extra equipment was purchased on E-Bay and Amazon, after I finished paying Comcast for the initial parts and install bill !!! Keep in mind, Comcast will not warranty outdoor equipment, other than the outdoor cameras at this time...
I also use those Xfinity Lighting Controllers for remotely turning on or off for my cable/modem, remote camera routers and switches, my PC computers, etc... so in the event of approaching lightning storms, equipment freezes, reboots, etc... this can then all be done from the Touchpad and I don't have to run out to a detached garage or down the stairs into my basement. All done from my Master Bedroom !!! I even control my attic fan, window AC Units, etc... all remotely from the Touchpad, or even Android Smartphone or PC Portal Software !!! I Love it !!!
OK, I'll admit it... Honey you shrunk the kids !!! (LO!!!) Enjoy and keep Xfinity Comcast on their toes here and tell them we all want more toys and features and bells and whistles from them too !!! Such as those motion sensing around the clock 24/7 recording for outdoor cameras !!!
Has anyone gotten the new 720dpi Hi-Def outdoor cameras yet and if so, how are they ???
Best regards,
Jim ~ KB2UNK
