So I have had a wireless home network named "ABXfinity" as my wireless network for a few years.
Yesterday, I came home and found that the wireless network had been deleted from the router. It was nowhere to
be seen in any router setting, and obviously, there was no wireless network being broadcase by the router.
When I got access to the router, I tried to rename the default SSID on the Arris Xfinity Voice Modem/Router to the old SSID and password so I wouldn't have to reset my dozen or so wireless devices around the house. The router app would not save my SSID. After an hour of trying to figure out the issue, I tried a new SSID without the word Xfinity in it, and lo and behold, it allowed me to save the new SSID and I could proceed with configuring the router (and unfortunately reentering the SSID and password on all the wireless devices).
I only have my experience backing this theory, but I thought I would post this in case some other home user comes home to find their SSID that contained "xfinity" in the name had vanished into thin air!
