honestly i doubt comcast will going into everyone's home and swapping the 1000 for the 2. especially if someone had any type of issue after the new device was installed, that person (myself included) would feel the tech did something wrong and that this "upgrade" was a big waste of time and way more of a hassle than what it's worth. as the old saying goes "if nothing's wrong than dont fix it" however a family member who had the system installed years ago, recently and when she moved they updated the keypad and touchscreen (possibly the router too, she doesn't know) and even gave her a camera as i guess cuz when she ordered it they didn't offer a cam with it, but now they do, so she got that now as well
