Just as other providers use a telephone line as their primary connection to the central-monitoring station, Comcast uses your broadband Internet connection. Comcast includes cellular backup for no additional charge. Therefore, if the cable line is cut your system is still being monitored. If someone breaks in, your touchscreen will communicate with the central-monitoring station via cellular signal. Most companies charge additional fees to have cellular backup.

There are still a lot of people that have a landline telephone provider just for the purpose of handling their alarm. With Xfinity Home, you don't need a landline. Comcast also offers Triple Play bundles that include video, Internet, and home security instead of phone service. When bundling these services, the security is much cheaper than adding on separately.

So, if you have a Triple Play with Comcast and the only reason that you have Xfinity Voice is to handle your third-party alarm service. You could drop the Voice service, replace it with Xfinity Home for the same exact price and then cancel your current security service. It's like getting free home security.
