Temporarily disable smoke detector?

We had a false alarm on the smoke detector due to a small amount of smoke produced by cooking. I'm sure this will happen again. Can I disable it in advance if I'm going to cook something smoky, like grilling steaks?

On Friday, 2/27/15  I ordered a sports entertainment package for $4.99 a month.  When I try to get ESPNU it says not available, Channel 735 so would you cancel the sports entertainment package.  I am frankly to old to cope with this.  Viola I. Baker.  Account 09587 184631-01-9

I just wanted to add on for anyone that might be searching for issues they have with the security router. Setting your personal router to be exposed to the Internet was my solution for not being able to manage their router. I have my own personal webcams that need ports forwarded to work externally from our network. When calling for support, no one even had a clue that this security router even existed. Just glad I found this thread and someone suggested that setting! Even though Comcast has no information about the router and the touchpad setup, at least they seemed to cover any necessary functionality we need. I'm still concerned about the motion sensor, but this system is so much more convenient than our previous.

RJMMoon,

I've already done the reset button thing a couple of times and it does not help the situation.  I saw you latest post about the CT30 thermostat.  That is what I'm currently using.

Rjmmoon,

Your idea of power cycling is a good one. I've restarted everything muliple times, including taking the batteres out of the thermostat and rebooting all networking equipment and my computer. The 3 hour time difference remains. It would be nice to know if the security hub is the problem, but I don't know if Comcast would replace it after a year of sitting in the closet.

I didn't install the system until recently because it was basically the result of a sales pitch that would lower my bill for a while.

Thanks.

had the same a while ago and I chat with comcast. Wrong time showed up after they installed an update. After my chat and posting here they fixed it

Why is it that I cannot get Comcast to shut off the EcoSaver feature on my account? I have had this system over 2 years and all of a sudden the EcoSaver feature turned on last week, making my home an ice box. I have had my systme programmed perfectly for us and now it's a mess. There is no reason why I should be waking up, freezing or having to set my alarm so that I make sure my kids are not cold in the middle if the night. I woke up at 1am this morning to it being 66 degrees, it was set for 72. I have called and am on hold again now with Comcast, I am not getting anywhere with this. DOes anyone have any idea on how to shut this off?

looklooks like they have a major problem 3 days ago at 1:20AM Ecosaver switched the HVAC on and heated to 73° for no reason. My timer shut down the temp to 65° in the night...
No the connection is completly gone (but the thermostat is still connected to the tablet and seen in the network); xfiniity website is saying "no connection to the server possible"... this is horrible. I'm 5000 miles away from home and have no access now to the thermostat

Update from 300 to 350

I made a mistake and put this in portal so I am adding it here as well.

I have Xfinity Home 300 with motion sensor, door sensors (x3) and one camera. This was a takeover so the only equipment that was installed was the camera and tablet. I had to install the camera myself because the tech said he could not run wiring through the wall and could not plug it in outside. This made the outside camera useless so he left it on the window seal and I installed it when he left.

I want to update to Home 350 and add a couple cameras, light switches and thermostat. I was quoted $399 to add this. I am a Retired Navy missiles technician and currently a Electrical / Electronic Technician and I know that this will take all of an hour to do.

Is there a self-install kit or some way around this? I am willing to pay something for the install but $400 seems excessive for the work that needs to be done.

Can I be updated to 350 and I will buy and install the extra equipment?

Re: Remove stand from Xfinity Home Touchscreen

If you remove the stand, you will activate the Tamper Switch. I made this mistake to mount the touch screen to the wall. I thought all was great until at around 1AM my alarm went off. It's not an awesome way to wake up. The alarm went off and the message just said that the unit had been tampered with. This is to prevent someone from breaking into your house, removing the stand so that the can remove the battery and disable the system. I searched and searched to see if there was a wall mount available for the touch screen, but it doesn't seem one is available. I ended up sticking something into the hole where the tamper switch is to keep it permanently pressed. I know I am taking a risk, but I wanted my touch screen mounted to the wall.

Having the same issue. I bought one of the Cree Connected bulbs and it seems like the touch screen can find it, but it just says Pairing and doesn't do anything else. Wish I could get these to work. Glad I only bought one just to test. I'm sure they won't support them in a while since they probably want us to buy their devices instead.

Good Luck my friend. I am also disabled, and have found everything from the shoddy installation, to being billed for things that I am disputing, to poor internet speed, and terrible customer service. I am busted (disabled), broke (living on Medicare), and fed up with all the GREED! You need to find a way to speak with someone at a Corperate Level, even a District Manager or Department Head might be able to help you. The people we speak to on the phones are usually out sourced 3rd Party vendors in a call center, and have NO Authority to waive an early termination fee. For me I became disable, was unemployed for 3 years until I got my disability approved through appeal. I get $1415 after Medicare Insurances costs. I can't pay my bills anymore. So to Comcast it's Sorry, but I didn't plan on being broke & busted, so I just can't afford or pay you...PERIOD! They can't sue you.

Adding Cameras and Sensors to System

Recently had a security system added.  At the time, a techician installed the equipment and told me that I could add more sensors, cameras, etc. if I wanted to.

I do want to but don't know how to pair the new equipment to my system.  I contacted xfinity who told me that since it was installed by xfinity, I would have to have xfinity add the sensors.

Does anyone have advice or a way to do this without having another tech come out?
