Re: Comcast Home Thermostat

You should let Comcast install the thermostat initially. Just make sure that the batteries are installed properly and that the technician installs a 24v DC power source from your HVAC system or a separate transformer...if Comcast does not want to run wires from your HVAC system, you might have to get an electrician or your heating or air conditioning contractor...Comcast will not run wiring, they will only connect wires that are there...good luck...post your outcome!

Thanks for your reply. I verified the 24V AC line before installing as well as placed the batteries in the right direction. After talking with support she determined it had to be a faulty unit and scheduled the tech. I am not a certified electrician but have done a large amount of work in residential wiring and installing Tstats so I had an idea from the start that there was something up with the unit. It should have at least shown the tem as soon as the batteries were installed. Oh well not a huge issue as I have a wood stove that will keep the home toasty until the tech shows tomorrow.

My thermostat has a caution light on it next to the current temperature.  What does this mean?  I looked at the troubleshooting for the thermostat on the comcat site, but could not find the answer to this question.  Thank you.

Try calling Comcast Tech Support.

If it is the CT-30 thermostat that they installed, the Red light is for when it cannot connect to the Access Point for Comcast Home.

I use the same thermostat, but with a different company to allow me to control it through their service.  It has been a while since I have actually seen the Red LED light up on mine.

Try taking out the batteries on the thermostat, turn off the furnace either at the breaker panel, or at the switch on the side if there is one.  Then unplug the Comcast Home Access Point.  Plug back in the Access Point and after it syncs with Comcast's network, then turn the furnace back on, then put the batteries back into the thermostat.

It should hopefully go to a Green LED.  If not, try pressing the Menu button on the right side, then press and hold under the Antenna icon on the touch screen, with the word "Radio" by it, the "Mate" icon.  You may have to press it again after you hold it for a bit.  It should then hopefully sync with the Access Point.

If it does not, then you will need to contact Comcast home, due to one of two things may have happened.  The thermostat somehow lost the PIN to sync it with the Comcast Home system, or the radio unit or U-Snap module as it is called, has gone bad, which I have seen happen with them.

Follow up on this, as to what the problem was, and mark it as solved, once Comcast home resolves the issue.  That way if anyone else has the same issue, they can find this topic and know exactly what steps to go through for troubleshooting.

still have equipment is it possible to have appointment to reconnect moved up?

I cancelled and took down my equipment because I wanted to make sure it was ok with my property manager to have a security system. After talking to them they told me it was ok as long as not too many holes were drilled in the apartment.

When I called to have to equipment re installed they told me the soonest was next friday. How can I get it moved up until monday and can I reinstall it myself. I just got a notice that my service was still active until april 6th. If this is true shouldn't I just be able to re install everything myself?

Not a smart remark

The other party was not making a smart remark.  As for your answer.  It all depends on the schedule of the techs that handle Comcast Home.  Think of it like trying to get into a specialist, that your dr has scheduled you to go see.

They state you cannot get in until 30-45 days from the date the dr's office called for you to go see them.  You have the option at that point of talking to the nurse or administration unit, to get placed on a bump list, in case someone cancels.

You can do the same thing with Comcast.  Call to let them know that if someone cancels, or an opening comes up, that you would like to see if you can be placed on that list.  That way you may be able to get an earlier opening, which may or may never happen.

One more question instead of buying cameras from Xfinity what kind can I buy from like eBay that should work also. I don't feel like the one they sell are worth $129 and then I still install it my self.

you can get the same camera comcast sells for about $50 on ebay. you can only install one with basic xfinity home system, with no recording capability or upgrade service for about $7 per month and install up to 6 cameras with recording capability....if you read other posts, you will sometimes get your questions answered...I do not think that other cameras are functional in the Comcast system.
