Most DOCSIS 2 devices are end of life (as in, no longer supported by the manufacturer for firmware updates and bug fixes) and for the speed tiers that we offer, they often can't provide the speeds customers are paying for (DOCSIS 2 modems typically can't provide speeds greater than ~35 Mbps). This is the reason we are pushing for adoption of DOCSIS 3 modems. Quite frankly, it's to ensure customers are getting high quality, consistent HSI with the speeds that they are paying for.
