This week I had xfinity package installed including home security and fire/smoke detection. I did this so that we could have reduction in homeowner's insurance, and the Comcast scheduler bundled the home security into the system so that we could have a monitored system. We already have a functional home security system with fire/smoke detectors but it is not up to code (needs more sensors in all the bedrooms and is not monitored, and I don't want it monitored by that company. The system has to be monitored in order to quality for discount on property insurance.
The installer says that I need to get more smoke/fire detectors and install them myself (? free standing or hard wired into my old system) and then get him back over to connect the fire/smoke monitoring to xfinity. That doesn't make any sense to me.
I asked the scheduler at the local comcast office and he said that the installer should have installed the fire/smoke detectors that will communicate with the xfinity system. So I don't know what to do.
Why can't I just purchase the fire/smoke detectors from comcast that will communicate with the xfinity system.
