Did Comcast connect your old alarm system or install a whole new system? I if a whole new system, you must use their smoke detectors...if they connected to your old system, you could probably connected to those already there. The Tory by the tech sounds fishy since you almost never get the same tech. Why not just install an independent smoke/CO wired system? The purpose is to get alerts from the detectors...not a phone call from Comcast...the independent units will work as well, or better, if wired, which Comcast does not offer.
