xfinity home with bridged DPC3941T

Hi,

 

 I just got my Xfinity Home installed yesterday. It was a "panel takeover" install. Meaning they used my existing wiring and replace the keypad and the mainboard. To get the touchscreen working the installer has to use a wireless repeater that allows the mainboard to communicate with the touchscreen, which connects to the DPC3941T.  

 

My big issue is, I use DPC3941T in bridge mode, I run a VPN/Firewall and have a few machines that need a higher level of security than the DPC3941T can provide.

 

When you bridge the DPC3941T it turned off most of the features, including wireless. which the touchscreen needs to communicate. 

 

Is there anyway to choose a different SSID on the touchscreen so I can connect through my own AP, or do I have to call Xfinity and have them come and get their equipment, and choose another company to do my Alarm.

 

Also to add to this, my Xfinity phone service isn't working now after the install...

Why didn't you question this at the installation? Typically the answers here are by other users...you should call Comcast with your question, but good luck with that!

Any update on your issues. I just purchased the home security system, and I'm experiencing the same issues, especially the cameras. Sometimes they connect, and sometimes they don't.

Thank you Capt. Obvious.  If you have nothing constructive to say then don't say anything.  You might as well have posted "1st!" as your reply it would have been about as useful....

You can call 18552315578 so that we can setup a work order to add the sensor and schedule a tech to get the sensor paired.

I WILL BE CANCELNG MY SERIVICE ASAP AS I HAVE RECEIVED ZERO HELP FROM COMCAST REGARDING THIS MAJOR ISSUE.  I do not want to have thousands of dollars in fines from the police because of comcast terrible system. I have had other monitored smoke alarms in the past, NOT ONE of them required any pin yet alone the master pin to stop a false alarm. Comcast is the only monitored smoke alarm that has this so called feature.

Comcast only has a 30 day guarantee on there sensors once in your house. If this door need to be secured you will need to buy a new sensor from them. Did it break or just fall off the wall?  Alot of times the sensors will fall off the door if the door gets to hot / cold in a short time or gets slammed alot.  if it just happened for fall you can get some3m tape to replace it. Also Xfinity does offer a Product Protection Plan on the XH which wouldcover the cost of the new sensor. Its something like 4.95 a month. But call them up and weigh your opptions. 

AC Power lost to touch screen and motion detector tripped

I've had Comcast security for about a year. Last night, my alarm went off at 3AM and the police came. Looking at my activity history the first thing that happened was " AC Power lost". The same minute also shows Zone Motion Alarm tripped, and then the alarm starts going off.

 

This is the second time I've had this exact problem. There was no motion around the motion detectors during that time, I reviewed all footage. 

 

Can someone let me know if this is from a faulty Touch Screen or faulty motion detector?

 

I'm going to switch to a better security company this week if I can't figure it out. Not willing to be woken up in the middle of the night again because of Comcast.

Mostly just had to ensure my cameras were close enough to get a good signal.  If they were on that boundary, they cause issues.

The major issue with the smoke detector, and having no one willing to help with them has led me to decide to cancel my service in the next few months. 

 

1. Comcast calls police when batteries are low.

2. Comcast calls police when smoke from burned food hits detector.

3. No way to disabled smokle alarm without main pin once it goes off. Even if  there is no more smoke, the alarm will keep going off and comcast will call the police.

Yes. You have to turn that zone off before you arm the system. When you disarm the system, the door becomes active again, and if you want the door off again, you have to do it each and every time before you arm the system. You cannot turn the door off indefinitely!

Could be several reasons. You have to have a tech come out, and be lucky enough that he finds the issue. Unfortunately you can expect unusual issues with this system occasionally for no apparent reason. Good luck trying to get out of the contract!

Only option is tech calls, and getting lucky that you get someone who knows what they are doing...

Just got home security system installed to day.  Need to know which do I check, in the following statement, which is listed on the card I am susposed to provide my insurance company?

that portion should have been filled out by the technician. if you got the home security with the touch screen and not the Home control without the touch screen. then it should be filled out that you are monitored.

Sometimes I can't see my cameras either, especially on my phone. Here's the deal, both cameras are in good signal range. It's their software, possibly their mobile app, possibly the operating system itself. As it is with many aspects of this system. Problem is, no one in the field knows anything about the software so they only troubleshoot what they know, the hardware.........
